The iGuy is a drop-proof, iPad case for children made by Speck Products. IGuy is made from single-material EVA foam with features friendly to little hands. My role in the project was to develop the CAD (ProE) for manufacturing for the initial iPad version. Subsequently I redeveloped the design for KindleFire 7.9", 8.1" and iPad Air (2014). The iPad Air version went into production in 2014.
The iGuy is a fun, free standing iPad case that can take is made to appeal to and withstand the enthusiasm of small children.
In-house 3d printed models to test fit for various cases, button alignment, thickness for pliability, port alignment, and drop protection.
I led the rectification of gestural design to seamless, tool-ready design for single-material injection molded EVA foam.
The success of the iPad version led to subsequent redevelopment for iPad Air 2 in 2014.
