I was the lead designer for this project at Stellar Design. Stellar is the primary contractor for a Manufacturer developing a third-round augmented reality headset. We worked with the in-house engineering teams and leadership to develop visual brand identity, technological integration, human factors, DFM, and optimization around the optical package.
Target Innovation Lab
At the time of this project, Target corporation was attempting to align itself with the changing physical and digital retail landscape. Working with the internal accelerator team, The Crucible, the Stellar team developed brands for release within Target. We then developed product lines under those newly defined brands. Our market segmentation focused on new millennial mothers.
The Speck StyleFolio Case is the flagship iPad case of Speck Design. I adapted the design of the production iPad Air case for the newly released iPad Air 2. Design efforts targeted low cost adaptations which did not require opening new tooling. The case for iPad Air 2 was released for early 2015 production.
The iGuy is a drop-proof, iPad case for children made by Speck Products. IGuy is made from single-material EVA foam with features friendly to little hands. My role in the project was to develop the CAD (ProE) for manufacturing for the initial iPad version. Subsequently I redeveloped the design for KindleFire 7.9", 8.1" and iPad Air (2014). The iPad Air version went into production in 2014.
My first undergraduate degree is in ceramics and glass. I still love getting my hands dirty. I've recently been exploring the application of pattern to simple ceramic forms. This latest series plays off the patterns of the succulents which they contain.
CARE is my Senior Thesis and capstone project from my undergraduate experience at California College of the Arts. My focus was to redesign and optimize the smart pump infusion system for the distribution of intravenous fluids. The current system is robust, but also cluttered, unwieldy and complex. It is also literally inserted into the body of the patient. I saw this as a perfect, if unsexy, opportunity for design. My system faces the experience of both nursing staff as well as patient. Goals include: increased legibility, and drastically decreased potential for mishap.
